Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is responsible for integrating the cost effective sheet metal fabrication, welding and surface finishing solutions into manufacturing system at client. The Manufacturing Engineer will oversee the technical aspects of the manufacturing process and be instrumental in completing technical projects on time. In this role, the ME will identify best practices, the most feasible technologies, the benchmark manufacturing processes, and for seamlessly integrating lean manufacturing systems into client’s daily operations.

• Develop production tooling, gauges, jigs and fixtures to streamline manufacturing processes with effective technical solutions
• Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine the best manufacturing engineering solutions to build quality and reliability of the finished product consistently and efficiently
• Develop the capital project plans and make the financial justifications as required
• Keep the leadership team regularly updated for the key metrics, and ensure a successful implementation for each project
• Conduct in-process manufacturing engineering audits, review standard works and product specifications with production supervisor when determining the best manufacturing solutions for each production area.
• Actively support in the daily activities of production teams, develop the manufacturing and the finishing systems that support continuous quality and productivity improvements.
• Working with maintenance team as well as outside contractors to minimize equipment downtime and ensure a streamlined manufacturing operation at client
• Take actions when a quality problem is discovered and help determine the root cause by using 8D, A3 and other problem solving methods to prevent future occurrences
• Assist the investigations of customer issues and field complaints as required
• Participate in and support Kaizen events, value stream mapping, daily Kata, focused factory activities and other continuous improvement tasks
• Develop the lean manufacturing work-cells/lines with the tooling and tracing elements that required for streamlining the production
• Establish the standards for the surface finishing, and the specifications for the finishing equipment at client to meet customer’s requirements
• Train and support onsite technical staff on trouble shooting and maintaining the production equipment and the paint finishing systems to reduce equipment downtime
• Assist quality team in response to infant warranty claims and other quality issue with root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Work with product engineering and quality to establish the standards for the surface finishing, and the specifications for the finishing equipment at client to meet customer’s requirements
• Participate the focused factory team activities on QRTI Board Metrics & QRCA processes
• Work with IT department on IT infrastructure deployment in support of client’s manufacturing needs
• Ensure the integration of a manufacturing technology will leverage client’s product quality, manufacturing capabilities and time to market, with financial accountability of meeting the corporate guidelines
• Work with product engineering, quality and production teams to ensure all units are manufactured to sales agreements, as well as to client’s engineering drawings, standards, and specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or manufacturing engineering/technology
• Hands-on experiences in sheet metal fabrications, MiG welding of both steel and Aluminum assemblies, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, color matching and film thickness measuring, Ecoat and powder coating processes, production tooling (jigs and fixtures), material management and handling equipment, data collection/data analysis and their applications in the high-mix-low-volume production environments
• Experience with automated finishing line, manual, automated and flexible assembling systems
• Experiences with multi-stage pretreatment system, Electric coating and powder coating equipment (Ecoat tanks, powder coating booth, and curing ovens) – preferred
• Familiar with DFM, DFMEA/PFMEA and their applications in OEM
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks a must, and electrical circuits preferred
• Good understanding of lean manufacturing principals and continuous improvement practices

•Work is required in the office and on the production floor with the flexibility of supporting the multi-shift operations at the plant
•Metal fabrication shop with welding, cutting, grinding, metal assembly lifting and moving
•Onsite E-coat system and powder coat finishing systems
•PPE required for being on the production floor at all time

Base salary range: 90-110k, depends on experience level
